GMAT Mobile Test Center Embarks on Eight-Month Tour Across America

This tour will bring the GMAT exam to 28 campuses in 20 states

Reston, Virginia—The GMAT Mobile Test Center has embarked on an eight-month, cross-country trip to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) directly to prospective business school students at dozens of U.S. colleges and universities.

This tour—the sixth since the mobile test center was launched in 2006—will bring the GMAT exam to 28 campuses in 20 states. The trip began October 26 at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington, and will conclude May 3, 2011, at California State University, Bakersfield.

The unique test center on wheels includes six high-tech GMAT testing stations and satellite communications links. The mobile test center is operated by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), owner of the GMAT, and includes the same sophisticated test-security and ID-verification systems used throughout the global network of GMAT test centers.

The mobile test center is managed for GMAC by Pearson VUE, which provides test administration services for the GMAT worldwide. The GMAT is a standardized entrance exam used by thousands of graduate management education programs around the world.

The GMAT Mobile Test Center was established in 2006 as a pilot program to increase access to the exam for students in remote areas. On its most recent trip, the test center traveled to 32 U.S. college campuses in 14 states, including historically black colleges and universities and Hispanic-serving institutions, between October 2009 and May 2010. In mid-2008, the mobile test center visited 14 universities in seven Canadian provinces.
