For Immediate Release
London (U.K.)—Julia Tyler, associate dean of the London Business School MBA Programme, has been named managing director of the newly-formed U.K. subsidiary of the Graduate Management Admission Council® (GMAC®). She will begin her new position November 1, with responsibility for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
GMAC is an association of 160 top business schools around the world and provider of the Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®), used by more than 3,000 graduate business programs worldwide. The new entity, called Graduate Management Global Connection U.K. Ltd., is the first international office of GMAC, which is expanding its operations around the globe. Headquarters for the organization are in McLean, Virginia (USA).
Ms Tyler will lead efforts to increase the Council’s outreach and service to a rapidly-growing market for graduate management education in Europe and a wider region that includes the Middle East and Africa. Her responsibilities also will include the identification of new and emerging markets for graduate business education as well as the development of products and services for schools and prospective students.
“Julia’s extensive experience in international marketing for graduate management education and her strong knowledge of GMAC, as a past chair of our board of directors, make her especially well-suited to lead this important new regional initiative,” said Ramesh Thadani, vice president of international operations for the Council, who is heading the Council’s international effort and to whom Ms Tyler will report. “The establishment of the U.K. entity is a critical step in our commitment to create a stronger global presence for GMAC.”
Ms Tyler served as chair of the GMAC board of directors from 2004 to 2005 and has also been a member of the Governing Board of London Business School.
“GMAC has long been a highly-respected but quiet global player, and now is the right time for the Council to strengthen and expand its global presence to better serve the needs of business schools and students in a highly competitive global market,” said Ms Tyler. “I know from my firsthand experience with GMAC, as a leader and member, its great value, potential and effectiveness in the service of graduate business education. The opportunity to join the organization in this endeavor was irresistible.”
Ms Tyler joined the London Business School, widely regarded as one of the world’s most international business schools, in 1994 and has served as associate dean of the MBA programme since 2002, with responsibilities for marketing, student admission, curriculum/program design, and student affairs. Previously, she was a senior consultant with Coopers and Lybrand and also helped establish the U.K.’s Open University Business School.
Ms Tyler received her first degree in English from Oxford University and her second qualification in Education Management from the Institute of Education, University of London. She has also completed the Advanced Management Program at Oxford University.
