RESTON, Va. (Dec. 5, 2018) — Dr. Chris Han, Head of Test Development and Psychometrics (TD&P) at the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), has been awarded the 2018 Qiyas Award for Excellence in Educational Assessment (for implemented programs and practices in educational measurement, assessment, and evaluation). Dr. Han formally accepted this award at the National Center for Assessment's (NCA) International Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this month. He was selected out of about 200 nominees from around the world, all leaders in the fields of psychometric research and development.
The Qiyas Award was established in 2014 to promote excellence in the field of educational measurement, assessment and evaluation. The NCA selected Han for the award based on his breakthrough work in new multistage adaptive test (MST) design used in the development and commercial release of GMAC’s new Executive Assessment. Dr. Han was the sole architect, designer, and developer of the instrument and its methodology.
“Chris continuously makes significant—and industry recognized—contributions to the assessment field,” said Joy Jones, chief product officer at GMAC. “His work on our Executive Assessment product addressed a critical need around how the world’s leading business schools evaluate academic readiness of their senior executive level candidates.”
Early in the development process, Dr. Han worked with industry stakeholders to outline key requirements from both the school and candidate perspectives.
“I am honored to receive such distinguished recognition from colleagues in the field of psychometric research and development,” Han said. “It’s gratifying to see this work have an impact so quickly through GMAC’s Executive Assessment product. It’s consistent with our mission of helping business schools connect with the brightest minds from around the world.”
