Wiley Publishing, Inc. announced today that it is now the official publisher of the Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®) study guides.
Hoboken, New Jersey (October 23, 2008)—Wiley Publishing, Inc. announced today that it is now the official publisher of the Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®) study guides. The publishing program will begin with The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 12th Edition, and will follow with new editions of The Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review and The Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review.
The guides are authored by the Graduate Management Admission Council® (GMAC®), the owner and administrator of the GMAT exam.
Wiley Publishing will handle all aspects of production and distribution for The Official Guide for GMAT Review and its companion publications. Wiley will work with booksellers to increase visibility for the books, while ownership of the guides will remain with GMAC.
“This strategic partnership brings together two businesses with complementary goals,” said Cindy Kitchel, vice president and publisher, Wiley Professional/Trade publishing. “GMAC shares Wiley’s vision of providing valuable educational tools to aid students and life learners. By enabling test-takers to study from retired test questions, these official publications truly prepare test-takers to succeed both on the test and in business school.”
The GMAT exam is a computer-adaptive exam that measures basic verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills acquired through education and work experience. Available in more than 100 countries, it is the global standard for entry into graduate management education programs. As of September 30, more than 223,000 students worldwide have registered for the GMAT in 2008, a nearly 12 percent increase over the same period last year.
With the Official Guides, test takers get questions, answers and explanations straight from the source—the creators of the GMAT itself. Fully revised and updated, each guide is filled with retired questions from past exams. The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 12th Edition, which will be released in March 2009, contains more than 800 multiple-choice questions arranged in order of difficulty to save readers time, plus a diagnostic section to help students identify their skill level for more focused study. Readers will also find actual essay topics, sample responses, and scoring information, as well as insights that debunk test-taking myths.
“GMAC has found Wiley to be an excellent partner in distributing the Official Guides around the world,” said Peg Jobst, senior vice president of the GMAT Program at the Graduate Management Admission Council. “We are pleased to be able to rely on Wiley’s expertise to develop our guides and make them available to people interested in careers in business.”
